Mobilizing for the People and the Planet

We use public education and civic engagement to tackle the climate crisis, confront environmental injustice, and strengthen our democracy.

LCV Education Fund, together with LCV and our state affiliates, runs powerful grassroots mobilization, organization and education programs to push for urgently needed action on climate and democracy at the federal and state levels. We envision a world in which tackling the climate crisis, confronting environmental injustice, and strengthening our democracy lead to cleaner and healthier communities, good, well-paying jobs, and a more just, equitable, and sustainable planet for all.

Climate impacts, from severe storms to heat waves to wildfires, are affecting the health and safety of people across the country at unprecedented levels.

We engage with historically excluded communities to increase civic participation, improve access to voting, and elevate equitable climate action.
We’re building powerful, inclusive programs and partnerships with low-wealth communities and communities of color to shape community-driven equitable and just policy solutions.
Mobilizing and partnering with these communities is essential to address systemic problems, including the climate crisis, a democracy under attack, and the toxic legacy of environmental injustice.

What We’re Fighting For

Climate Justice

Climate change is an existential threat to our planet and all of its people. It particularly threatens low-income and Indigenous communities, and communities of color. Now is the moment to change course.

Strengthening Our Democracy

We cannot have a healthy environment without a healthy democracy. The communities who face barriers to the ballot box and have been historically excluded from the electoral process are the same communities most impacted by the climate crisis and pollution. LCV Education Fund’s Democracy For All program engages these communities to strengthen their voice in our democracy.

“50 years after the first Earth Day, the common refrain 'we only have one planet' continues to ring hollow for far too many communities of color who experience a planet burdened by environmental racism. And amid a global health crisis, we face the grim reality that these same communities are being hit the hardest, and for related reasons. While the sources of these injustices are wide-ranging — institutional and systemic racism embedded into housing, healthcare, economic systems —a solution remains: protect the vote.”

Healthy Communities

Our Healthy Communities program works at the intersection of human health, the environment and justice, focusing on eliminating the pollution – in air, water, soil and food – that jeopardizes the health of all our families and communities.

Public Lands and Waters

LCV Education Fund works to protect our country’s public lands and waters. We uplift local movements, increase opportunities for all people to experience and feel welcome on public lands, and educate communities on how public lands and waters are a resource for public health and climate change solutions.
